Forgiveness

Pleas of forgiveness want to fall from my bloodless lips,
The idea of throwing myself at your feet scars me
Tearing my bruised heart to shreds.  
I want to find redemption,
A kind of penance for my unforgivable deeds,
I want your forgiveness,
Peace, your mercy….
All of which I don’t deserve.

Forgive me please;

I can’t be someone to love you…
My heart bleeds guilty, shame and a searing sadness,
All of which I cannot stem.
A tourniquet wouldn’t help, for my heart would bleed still,
The hands of time might help me see,
How pure your heart must be,
To love a person such as me.

Forgive me please;

I can’t be the one to kiss your heart,
Or tell you you’re the one I love,
Without knowing that I’m the liar.
I can’t be the one to hold your heart in my hands,
I can’t be the one to break your treasure,
And I can’t be the one to shatter your soul.

Please forgive me;

I’m the one who says don’t leave,
Yet I’m the one who pushes you away;
I’m the one who says please don’t hate me,
Yet I’m the one who hates myself.
You’re the one who is so pure,
And I know I don’t deserve you.

Please forgive me;
And know;
That the day you are hurt because of me,
Is the day my life is forfeit to the darkness of mine sins.
