Literature Text

Today, I watched the sunrise, clearing the tops of the snow-encrusted trees,
Rays of warmth shattering the blanket of cold that had descended upon us all,
A glittering myriad of opal, shot hazy streaks of jaded heat
I stood and let myself drift, thinking of you in the soft dawn light,
Taken back to the moments we share, peaceful and calming.

Reflecting lights, bounced to and fro off the early mornings snow,
Entranced, my eyes staring off into the dawns soft lights,
Unseeing, yet your face hovered before mine, close enough to touch,
Yet a million miles away;
I reached out, tempted beyond belief to sink into your arms,
And remembered it was only my heart, playing cruel jokes upon me,
Melodies of heaven flowing around us, I stood alone, silent in the chilled air,
And you were there.

When the sun had reached its zenith, and the bell rang to call this one home,
Over the ice and throw the snows I did wander, home to my love at last;
Tumbling head over heels farther into your arms,
The sun washed over me, warming the ice clinging to my frame,
And I opened my eyes to find the heavens smiling upon me,
Wait no, not the heavens,
Twas you.

You, the one who makes my heart run free as the wild horses,
You, the one whose light saves my heart from the shadows every day,
You, the one whose eyes tell the story of love,
My light, entrusted with my heart,
My love, entrusted with my soul,
My hope, you light the flame of joy, love, warmth, and life
My flame in the dark, banishing the shadows,
You are whom I live for.

I watched the sun go down today, couldn’t help but feel a little sorrowful,
End of the day, yet beginning of the night,
The warmth dying from the world, replaced by the insufferable chill of darkness
The light fading; the shadows returning, yet I know you’re holding me safe,
For the chill, well it doesn’t sting as much, and the warmth washes my body more,
A soft caress, streaming from your fingertips,
Banishing the uncertainty, the dark, bringing light to where there once was none;
Golden hues of brilliant glorification, spent gladly to the dusk,
Blood red skies of the suns hot night,
The moon, lady of morale, peeps her blushing face into the chill, calling forth her children, the stars;
Slow soft waltzes, songs of the night lull the world to the one half world,
And slowly life goes down to die.
